Selecting Figma for Wireframing and Narrowing Down No-Code Tools - Day 4

Today was all about research and preparation as I took a significant step toward creating the Real Estate Investment Calculator. While I didn’t begin sketching the interface just yet, I made key decisions to streamline the design and development process, setting the stage for productive days ahead.

Why Figma for Wireframing?

After considering several design tools, I’ve chosen Figma for wireframing and the overall design process. Here’s why:

  • Ease of Use: Figma offers an intuitive interface, making it beginner-friendly while still powerful enough for advanced design needs.
  • Collaborative Features: Its cloud-based nature allows seamless collaboration, ensuring that feedback and adjustments can happen in real-time.
  • Free Access: The free tier includes robust features, which makes it an ideal choice for solopreneurs or small teams starting with a tight budget.
  • Design Resources: Figma provides access to free UI kits, which I plan to use as a foundation for the calculator. This will accelerate the design process while maintaining a professional look and feel.

Tomorrow, I’ll focus solely on sketching the UI in Figma. My goal is to create clean, intuitive layouts for the 6-page workflow we discussed yesterday, ensuring that every step of the BRRRR strategy is straightforward and user-friendly.

Narrowing Down No-Code/Low-Code Tools

In addition to finalizing my wireframing tool, I spent this evening narrowing my options for no-code/low-code platforms to build the calculator. My top three contenders are:

  1. Softr
    • Why It’s Promising: Simple and versatile for creating web apps with Airtable or Google Sheets as a backend. Great for quickly launching functional tools.
  2. Bubble
    • Why It’s Promising: Offers robust customization and scalability, making it suitable for more complex applications like the Real Estate Investment Calculator.
  3. Lovable
    • Why It’s Promising: Focuses on a blend of low-code and no-code, providing flexibility while ensuring simplicity for non-technical creators.

Over the next few days, I’ll take time to review each platform in depth, exploring their features, ease of use, and how well they align with the calculator’s requirements. This approach allows me to make an informed decision rather than rushing into a choice.

Next Steps

  1. Sketch the UI: Tomorrow will be entirely dedicated to sketching the wireframes in Figma, ensuring that every page of the calculator’s workflow is thoughtfully designed.
  2. Evaluate Platforms: Continue researching and testing Softr, Bubble, and Lovable to identify the best tool for development.
  3. Refine Workflow: As I progress, I’ll revisit and refine the user flow to ensure a seamless experience from start to finish.

Today’s research and preparation felt like laying the groundwork for a strong foundation. By focusing on thoughtful planning and careful tool selection, I’m ensuring the Real Estate Investment Calculator will be both functional and visually appealing.

Stay tuned as I dive into sketching tomorrow and bring this vision closer to reality!
